PMS HISTORY

The PMS directly traces its roots from the Development Management Staff (DMS), which was created by virtue of Executive Order (EO) no. 250 in 1970. It was mandated to provide staff support to the Presidency and its advisory councils in the decision making and policy-formulation processes, and providing solutions to crisis-situations. In 1976, pursuant to Presidential Decree no. 955, the DMS was reconstituted and renamed as the PMS, which was primarily tasked to provide the Presidency with multi-disciplinary staff support in the exercise of the overall management of the development process. The functions of the PMS have evolved over the years to better respond to the requirements and priorities of the Presidency, which are all geared towards the achievement of a better quality of life for every Filipino.
